Celebrating Youth

Uba and Grandpa came up early to help with Cooper's birthday party (pics coming) and to watch Cooper when Casey and I attended my school's holiday party. Saturday, before the party, we attended this great little festival at the capital called Celebrating Youth. Most of the attractions were held inside at the Monona Terrace. Before we headed inside he took a ride down the toddler hill on a snow tube. He had a huge smile on his face and loved the short ride. We took a quick pit stop at the capital as well where Casey tipped Cooper backwards in the stroller to admire the rotunda ceiling. Cooper announced, "WOW!" Once indoors, Cooper got a chance to fly some kites. The theme was Up and Away so it was celebrating anything that was up in the sky (it was dark in there and our pictures didn't turn out great, sorry). We got to see some amazing birds up close. Cooper loved the dancers. He was mesmerized by the energetic moves and music. They had these awesome costumes at the festival. These men towered over the rest of us and had very creative and detailed costumes that scared the pants right off my baby. At one point Cooper looked like he just about got scared to death. My mom thought he was going to vomit at any moment and he made a face that neither Casey nor I had ever seen - a mixture of disgust, fear, and panic...like his whole little world was crashing down around him. We tried to get him to give the guy a high-5 but that was a no go! Overall, it was a great event...educational and fun for kids, parents, and grandparents alike!
