Casey and I had our first ever parent/teacher conferences today. It was very weird for me to be sitting on the other side of the table, I must admit. Cooper's teacher told us that we were her first conference ever, part of me was kind of relieved but a little voice in my head was saying
yikes, too bad for you because I have a million questions and plan to be very critical of how you talk about my child. No need, she was great and in the end all was good. She told us that some of her goals for Cooper were to work on picking up more than just a couple things, this is a whole classroom goal I guess. She said that Cooper likes to sing the clean up song and then actually only clean one or two things. She also said he needs to work on wrestling. We have not had another big incident but she said he does still occasionally get all excited and want to wrestle his friends who may not feel as enthusiastic about it as he does. She said his strengths include his articulation of wants/needs, good manners, friendliness, and ability to learn and recall quickly. Overall, she called him a leader in the classroom and said he was really fun to teach. This came as a relief to Casey and I because he is obviously our first and we have nothing to compare him to. We are excited to see his finished portfolio that they are working on this year and are already really happy with how much we have seen him grow and learn this year. He really loves school!
