24 Month Wellness Exam

Cooper recently had his 24 month wellness exam and all is well for that little critter. He is growing steadily and has had really consistent growth patterns for most of his two years. He is 35 inches long which puts him in the 70% percentile for height. He weighs 28 pounds which puts him right about in the 50% percentile. His noggin is 19.5 inches and that puts him in the 60% percentile. The doctor seemed pretty happy with his speech development at this point. I had to laugh because Cooper was right on cue with his funny little tricks for Dr. Reeder. He said that Cooper should be putting two-word phrases together like Go Mama, etc. As he was saying this he was getting out one of his tools and Cooper looked at him and said, "Doctor, what you doing Doctor?" He heard Cooper use several 4 to 5 word phrases so I don't think that is much of a concern. Also, he said in terms of fine motor skills he should be starting to open doors and should be able to easily clap multiple times in a row. As we were getting the fine motor skills talk, Cooper unzipped the diaper bag, took out his toiletry kit, unzipped it , took out his comb, and started to comb his hair. We laughed at his motor display, right on cue. Dr. Reeder agreed fine motor skills were great. He gave us word that we could get off whole milk and switch to family milk so that is convenient. Also, he drinks quite a bit milk so I was concerned about anemia (I do too much research on the computer) and I like to get regular lead checks (thanks China). He was low on lead, scored a 3. Anemia was also in the normal range so that was good to know. One of his ear tubes is coming out a little prematurely but we have had no issues so I don't mind. The other is right where it should be. The earaches and runny nose seem to have run their courses and aren't an issue anymore, thank goodness. He had a hearing test and had 100% hearing so the minor loss that was indicated before the surgery has been eliminated, yeah! Overall, he is growing beautifully, both physically and mentally! Way to go Coop!
